Emily Smith, Flute Specialist

"Thanks for everything -- you have helped me so much in the past 3 years! Your words of encouragement, your will to teach, and your wonderful personality have helped me become the flute player I am today! Thanks for pushing me to be the best I can be!"

 --- Melissa, former student

"I was happy to have you work with our students this year, we certainly need to do that again next fall!"

  ---  Band Director

"Thank you so much for getting me to where I am today! I know that without your guidance and support, I would have never made it into district band. You're always positive, and your guidance has led me further than I thought was possible. Thanks so much!"

Welcome to MusicSmiths Flute Studio!

Hi! I'm Emily Smith, flutist/flute teacher and owner of MusicSmiths Flute Studio. I've been teaching private flute students for more than 30 years, but more crucially, I have built a career on being a well-rounded musician. As a flutist, I've performed with professional as well as community orchestras; a professional flute quartet; chamber music groups; and as a fifer with a fife & drum ensemble. As a teacher, I have worked with middle school, high school, and college flute students as a clinician; adjudicated district and state band auditions; adjudicated regional and state solo & ensemble festivals; and logged 20 years experience organizing and conducting flute choirs of all ages.

My students routinely receive 1st Division ratings at Solo & Ensemble events; are selected for seats in District, State, and Sousa honor bands; selected for Drum Major and Section Leader positions in their bands; and play in local youth symphonies . . . and most of them are also involved in many other activities, such as sports, dance, theater, and more!

I bring a wealth of diverse experiences to my teaching, and I draw on my own experiences as a student, performer, teacher, and adjudicator to help my students become the best musicians they can be, whatever their goals are. Lessons are focused on the individual student's interests and goals. I keep my students informed of other performance and enrichment opportunities beyond the studio and school music activities.

Want to know more? I invite you to visit my Flute Studio and Just for Students pages. You can also take a virtual tour of my studio -- I'll walk you through a typical flute lesson!

Got questions? I have answers! Feel free to explore my website and contact me for more information or to schedule a trial lesson.

Thanks for visiting my website!  Happy fluting!

Emily

"Thank you so much for sharing the flute family with our studio class. It was great to see, hear, and play together again!"

---  Katie Baeth, flute teacher, colleague, and Collage Flute Quartet member

Thank you so much for teaching me these past 7 years. Throughout our time together, you instilled in me a strong sense of motivation & an even deeper passion for music. I would not be where I am today without your encouragement and support. You have taught me so much about the meaning of hard work and the goals you can accomplish as long as you believe in yourself. Thank you for helping me far exceed the goals I dreamed for myself and for pushing me to continue music throughout my life.
